Harry Maguire has joined Manchester United from Leicester City for £80m, making him the most expensive defender in the world.
United have been chasing Maguire for some time since the England defender impressed in the 2018 World Cup and the club view him as the ideal partner for Victor Lindelof in defence.
Maguire’s fee eclipses the £75m Liverpool paid to acquire Virgil van Dijk and the £77m, if add-ons are met, Juventus recently splashed out to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.
