Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. Muhammad Babandede, has warned staff and officials against placing extra charges on passport issuance.
The Comptroller-General made this known during a meeting with passport officers on Monday in Abuja.
In a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer (SPEO), Mr Sunday James, Babandede said that the agency was against any additional form of fee on passport issuance
“No extra charges are allowed apart from the approved fees that is on our website and all official publications of the Service.
“The meeting is to set the pace for enforcement of compliance on payment for passport online.“All the officers should establish a front desk office for our teeming applicants to ensure applications are submitted directly to the institution and not to individuals.
“On the issue of loss and stolen items, the officers are advised to set up tracking mechanism.
“Hence, loss and stolen items should be treated on their merits and due diligence process should be followed to avoid culpability in related offences.”Photo Credit: Twitter
