Greizmann Stars As Atletico Madrid Beat Marseille To Win Europa League

Atletico Madrid have won their third Europa League title in nine years.

The Spanish club defeated French side, Marseille 3-0 to be crowned 2018 Europa League champions at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon on Wednesday (May 16). Barcelona target Antoine Greizmann started the final in Lyon which he made a remarkable statement with two goals on what could be his last game in an Atletico Madrid shirt.

Greizmann’s double landed him beside two of the Atletico’s former strikers that scored a brace in their last two European final wins. Diego Forlan netted twice in 2010 against Fulham, and Radamel Falcao scored two of the three goals in 2012 against Athletic Club.

“I am very happy,” said Griezmann who has scored 30 goals for Atletico Madrid this season. “I have been working to experience such a moment for many years. I left home when I was 14 for that. We will celebrate. My family is here.”Atletico Madrid are second in the Spanish La Liga will conclude their league season against Eibar on Sunday, as they are on course for a top-three finish for the sixth straight season.
