Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State has ordered the immediate closure of government-owned primary and secondary schools disturbed by flood in the state for three weeks.
This was made known in a press statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogo today. Mr Ojogo said the directive followed the flash floods which affected some areas in the state which are prone to flooding, especially the riverside communities. He added that the closure is necessary so as not to endanger the lives of the pupils.Head teachers and Principals of the schools were directed to ensure the enforcement of the closure and to ensure that all educational materials which are perishable be evacuated from the school premises.
