Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan, is in Kenya to monitor the nation’s presidential election. Kenya’s 2022 general election is taking place today Tuesday 9th of August 2022.
Goodluck Jonathan posted pictures from the election on his verified Facebook account, saying “Election day in Kenya. We set out at dawn as members of the Election Observation Mission of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA) to observe voting procedures in some polling stations in Nairobi, Kenya.
“As the good people of Kenya come out today to cast their ballots across the country, we look forward to a peaceful outcome and the strengthening of democracy in the Republic of Kenya. GEJ”
General elections in Kenya are held after every five years. This will be the third general election and the fourth presidential one since the promulgation of the 2010 constitutional referendum.
The incumbent president Uhuru Kenyatta is not eligible for a third term, as are two-term county governors as stated by the country’s laws.
