Germany has secured the FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup title after victorious outing against Chile in a 1-0 match in St Petersburg, on Sunday. The goal was scored by Lars Stindl in the 20th minute.Having seen their team win the European Under-21 Championship in Poland on Friday, Germany’s fans can celebrate another impressive tournament victory 12 months before they launch the defense of their world title. Their success in Russia was achieved even without using their well known players. It was Germany’s Timo Werner who seized on a “moment of madness” by Marcelo Diaz to create the goal. The Chilean gave away possession on the edge of his own penalty area, allowing Diaz to square the ball for Lars Stindl to tap home. This is the first time Germany, the defending world champions, have won the Confederations Cup in the eighth edition of the pre-World Cup tournament.Photo Credit: Getty
