Pop star Ariana Grande is pulling no punches talking about her ex, Pete Davidson, after she savagely called their engagement ‘insane’ and ‘highly unrealistic’.
The Dangerous Woman star revealed in her Vogue cover interview that she found her short-lived romance with the Saturday Night Live comic to be a ‘great distraction’ after her break up from ex, Mac Miller.
Ariana and Mac were together for two years before they split up in May 2018, and Ari began dating Pete soon after the break-up happened, when her friends convinced her to move to New York.
She explained: ‘My friends were like, “Come! We’re gonna have a fun summer”, and then I met Pete, and it was an amazing distraction.
‘It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him. I’m like an infant when it comes to real life and this old soul, been-around-the-block-a-million-times artist. I still don’t trust myself with the life stuff.’
Ariana and Pete got engaged less than a month after they met, but ended up calling it off in October – but not before the couple had got tattoos dedicated to each other as well.
They split just weeks after Mac died from an accidental drug overdose in September, which Ari described as ‘all-consuming’ grief. She explained: ‘By no means was what we had perfect, but, like, f**k. He was the best person ever, and he didn’t deserve the demons he had. I was the glue for such a long time, and I found myself becoming… less and less sticky. The pieces just started to float away.’
