No matter how popular Gizdodo is, it can never ever send Fried Snails and Sauce into extinction and today, we are preparing the local meat dish.
Trust you tried out the Ofada Jollof Rice we prepared last week. If yes, can you give us a gist of how it all went down in the comment section while we move on? Please do.Fried snail is one of the popular meats which, when sautéed with pepper, onions and other condiments, finishes as soon as it is served. Snail dishes are very popular in Africa and are sometimes referred to as Congo meat. Crunchy as it is, it is packed with protein and vitamins and minerals stemming from the meat itself, the pepper and other condiments used. That being said, what is the recipe to prepare our fried snails?
Ingredients: Cubes of Seasoning, curry, onion, snails, garlic, pepper, fresh tomatoes, salt and thyme.Preparation: Wash the snails with lime and alum (or either but both). When the slimes are all washed off, boil the snails in enough water with salt till soft ,drain and set aside.
In a frying pan, heat the oil, add in the grated garlic and sliced onions, stir continuously for about 1 minute. Then add in the the pepper and let fry for 2 minutes. Add in the diced tomatoes and let all fry on medium low heat for about 5 minutes. Add in the curry, thyme and seasoning cube(s). Ensure you stir to mix in the ingredients well.
Add the snails in the pot let all simmer for about 3 – 5 minutes. Your fried snail is readyy!!! You can serve with a chilled drink, you know, for a home-vacay weekend ow with main dishes like rice (of all forms – fried, jollof, ordinary), salad, Moi Moi and many more.
