Emmanuel Macron who is the new French President is facing a social media backlash for saying that Africa has a “civilizational” problem and women have “seven or eight children.”This comment was made at the G20 summit on Saturday, when a reporter from the Ivory Coast asked the French president why there was no Marshall Plan for Africa.
“The Marshall Plan was a reconstruction plan. The challenge of Africa is totally different and a lot more profound, it’s civilizational today,” Macron had said. He further added that “we need to develop policies that are a lot more sophisticated than the Marshall Plan.The clip drew negative attention to his page and has provoked an angry reaction on social media with people accusing Macron of racism and of perpetuating stereotypes about the continent.
