The Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, MOUAU, Abia State, Professor Francis Otunta has been accused of impregnating a 300-level female student and upgrading her to 400-level without examination.
This was revealed by a member of the school’s Governing Council, Dr Nelson O’Amanze Udenze, in a viral petition whom he wrote to the Ministry of Education, accusing the VC of promoting the Accounting student without examination, graduating her and then sending her abroad to close the case in 2017.
Udenze, in his 5-paged petition reeled out 7 more allegations against Francis Otunta, which include abuse of office, unlawful suspension of staff members, embezzlement of money meant for some staff of the university whom he suspended and stoppage of staff salaries. As reported by LIB, Â Dr. Udenze revealed he is yet to go the press because the Ministry of Education has constituted a panel to look into the allegations. He, however, threatened to speak to the press after the investigation has been concluded. They had visited the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC); Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Ministry of Education, urging the agencies to investigate fraudulent contracts issued by the VC when he was the Rector of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Uwana.
