Four Kogi Students Travelling Home For Christmas Abducted In Ondo

Four students of the Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja have reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen along the Akunnu-Ajowa road in Akoko north LGA of Ondo state.


It is understood that the students were returning home for the Christmas holidays on Friday when they were kidnapped.

Confirming the incident, The Ikare Area Commander of the Ondo State police force,  Muri Agboola revealed the identities of the students to reporters.

Agboola said he has deployed his men to comb the forests along the Akunnu-Ajowa Akoko road to rescue the abducted students.

Efforts by reporters to reach Funmi Odunlami, the state police spokesperson, on the matter proved abortive.

Odunlami did not respond to calls and text messages sent to her as of the time of this report.

There have been growing concerns over the widespread insecurity in the country.

The development has also elicited mixed reactions with Nigerians asking the government to address the situation.

In July, Ime Bishop Umoh, the Nollywood actor better known as Okon Lagos, advised the federal government to ask the international community for help in tackling insecurity.

According to him, Nigeria alone can no longer deal decisively with the level of insecurity confronting it.
