Fireboy Speaks On ‘Jealous’, Says It Was Not A Love Song

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Fireboy has opened up about his debut hit track, Jealous and certain misconceptions that people have had about the song.

FireboyAccording to him, the song is not a love song and neither was it inspired by any love story. It was rather a fling.

Speaking with music journalist, Joey Alan, the singer who recently released his sophomore album explained the idea behind the song.

Fireboy said, “I threw it away. It was a fling, it was not a relationship. ‘Jealous’ is not a love song. A lot of songs I wrote were not love songs. People just ‘ahhh, this song is beautiful, love song.’ ‘Jealous’ is not a love song. It’s not a love story. It was a fling. It was just sex.

“A sex thing and I’m pretty sure she had a boyfriend she had then, that I didn’t know of. I don’t know, I don’t care. But I found out that she was rolling with some guys. Small, small I just found out that I’d check her status, I’d see her with some guys. And I’d be feeling some pang of jealousy. ‘Ahn ahn, why are you feeling jealous over somebody that’s not yours? What’s this?’
