Fireboy DML is the feature star for GQ south Africa’s latest issue and the music star spoke about his music and fashion sense.
The hit maker spoke about his passion for music, upbringing, personal style, and future plans. “I don’t have a music background. None of my parents were musicians, but they loved music. I was fortunate enough to hear them play the likes of Celine Dion or Tope Alabi, etc. I later discovered great musicians like Elton John and James Blunt. I found my own range when I became a musician, which was shaped by Wande Coal, Jon Bellion, and Passenger.”
The YBNL signee also advised upcoming artiste to believe in themselves and also work on their craft. “Believe in yourself more. That would be the advice. As a young artist, you need to have self-esteem. Instead of going out there to seek validation, it’s pertinent to hone on your craft and champion it. There’s nothing more rewarding than working on your sound. Instead of paying for shows, work on yourself and the right people will find you, trust me.”
