Fire razes Agbeni market in Ibadan

An early morning fire on Sunday razed popular Agbeni market in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Reports have it that the fire started at about 04:30am, on Sunday.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

When contacted, the state General Manager of Fire Services, Yemi Akinyemi, confirmed the incident, saying “we received the distress call at exactly 04:37hrs through Sunday Ogundele, Access Bank security that Agbeni market is on fire.

“Our men are still battling with the job, we are grateful to Central Bank of Nigeria that allows us to use their water supply. Everything is under control. They are still going to CBN to replenish”, he confirmed.

In other news, A  two-day-old baby was abandoned within the premises of the Edo State Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Uhogua near Benin, Ovia South-West Local Government Area.

The camp proprietor, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, said an unknown person dumped the baby in the woods surrounding the entrance of the facility at about 11am on Friday, noting that the baby was in dire need of breastfeeding.
