After her nomination in the Digital artist of the year category in the Soundcity MVP Vanessa Mdee has done a great job in drawing the world’s attention to Tanzanian music. 
The artist who started out as an MTV VJ has gone on to achieve great things one of which includes her first solo single “Closer”, reaching over 30,000 downloads in its first times a feat achieved by no other Tanzanian artist.
