Senator Dino Melaye has shown his concern and called the attention of the Minister of health in Nigeria and the government on the issue of purchasing COVID-19 vaccine.
He said the government should ensure that whatever COVID-19 Vaccine they’re bringing into the country should be properly checked and undergo necessary study and proof that will suit our own type of COVID-19.
The senator took to his Instagram page to address the issue, saying that there are different types of COVID-19, varying from location to location and the countries producing theirs are doing so in relation to their research and scientific study.

As such, Dino has pleaded with the Nigerian government and the presidential task force committee that they should first of all know the virus peculiar to Nigerians before administering or purchasing the vaccine. This is because the coronavirus type varies from country to country, considering the second wave.
According to him;
“Nigerians are not guinea pigs, they should not be used as experiments… I please advice Nigerian government to ensure that a research is conducted and the vaccine has the potency to serve, cure or be used as an immunization for our type of COVID-19…”
He has urged the NCDC, PTF and other health bodies concerned to not rush to buy a vaccine that will enderger Nigerians. Instead, they should conduct their research thoroughly and come up with a solution that will help Nigerians.
