Ex-Imo Gov Ihedioha’s Mum Dies At 90

Former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has announced the death of his mother,  Dame Dorothy Ihedioha, (nee Okereke) aged 90.

Ihedioha disclosed this on Friday in a post via his Facebook page titled, “Our Matriach transits to eternity”.

He disclosed that she died on Thursday, April 20, 2023, in Abuja.

Recall that recently Ihedioha announced his withdrawal from the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic party.

The development was contained in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party.

Ihedioha, who served as governor of the state for seven months before the Supreme Court announced Hope Uzodimma as winner of the 2019 governorship election, cited interest of the party as his reason for the shocking withdrawal.

According to him, “In the interest of harmony and unity of the Party, I have decided to make the personal sacrifice of withdrawing from further participation in the processes leading to the emergence of the gubernatorial candidate.”

He appealed to supporters to understand and accept his decision, lamenting that those who had started mobilizing for him may be disappointed.
