Femi Gbajabiamila Denies Using Public Funds For Mom’s 90th Birthday in Dubai

The Nigerian House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila has debunked claims and reports that he spent 500 million naira public funds in throwing his mum, Alhaja Lateefat Olufunke Gbajabiamila, a luxurious 90th birthday party in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Reports have it that the lavish party kicked off yesterday, 2nd March and will run through 10th March in Dubai, and is funded with public funds. It was  reported also that the speaker had made reservations for about 300 guests at the Conrad Hilton Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, where the least room goes for $122 (N43,920) per night. Denying the claims, however, Femi Gbajabiamila, through his Special Adviser on Media, Lanre Lasisi, noted that the event is strictly for family members and a few childhood friends of the Speaker. He added that there was no public funds appropriated or expended, neither was a politician or legislation present at the occasion.

“For the records, this event was strictly for family members and a few childhood friends for which no public funds were appropriated or expended.Indeed not a single politician nor a legislator was present at the event”, Lanre Lasisi said.
