Kayode Fayemi is close to resuming office as the new governor of Ekiti State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will present the Certificate of Return to the Ekiti State governor-elect, Fayemi, on Wednesday. The deputy governor-elect, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, will also receive his Certificate of Return at the ceremony.
Fayemi, who represented the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the July 14 Ekiti governorship election, defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate. Kolapo Olusola, ADP’s Segun Adewale and 32 other candidates to win the state. The former minister polled 197,459 votes while Olusola gathered 178,121.
The presentation of Fayemi’s return certificate will hold on Wednesday at the state INEC headquarters along new Iyin Road in Ado-Ekiti, INEC Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin disclosed. However, Fayemi will be inaugurated on October 16.
