KOKO Knows: 5 Brothers That Have Played Together In The Premier League

Ahead of Jordan Lukaku completing is move from Lazio to Newcastle, and joining his brother Romelu Lukaku in the Epl and joining an elite lucky group of brother both past and present that had graced the Epl, we decided to remember some of the iconic football brothers that has graced the Epl;

1. Gary And Phil Neville: The Neville Brother are one of the most famous footballing family, where the two brothers got to play together in the Premier League and were lucky enough to have been part of the Manchester United Dynasty that dominated The Epl for the most part of the late 1990s and Early 2000s under Legendary Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Both were part of the legendary Class of 92″ that formed the core of the all-conquering United side that had David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, And Ryan Giggs. Gary spent his entire career at Manchester United while his brother Phil at some point moved from Manchester United To Everton at the tail end of his career.

2. Kolo And Yaya Toure: Another pair of Premier League icons, and two of their country’s most successful ever athletes; Yaya and Kolo Toure share an amazing 218 Ivory Coast caps between them – Kolo having made 118 to Yaya’s 100. Kolo was part of The Arsenal side that made history of going an entire season without losing a match, He and Sol Campbell were in the Heart of that Arsenal Defence of The Invincibles Of 2004. While Yaya would be fondly remembered has part of the team that won the league right at the dead with Kun Aguero’s injury time goal for Manchester City against QPR. Yaya went on to become an integral part of the club’s Premier League and European resurgence, Yaya has appeared in 266 games for The Citizens, scoring 75 goals along the way. Widely regarded as one of the finest box-to-box midfielders ever to have graced the Premier League, Yaya appeared alongside brother Kolo whilst playing for City in 2013.

3. Rio And Anton Ferdinand: 

Both Rio and Anton Ferdinand began their careers in West Ham’s fabled academy, before the centre-backs’ careers took a very different route. Rio left West Ham in November of 2000 in a record-breaking £18 million move that saw him join Premier League rivals Leeds.  He then moved on to Manchester United just two seasons later for a further £30 million – again a record fee – where he would eventually go on to make 455 appearances, establishing himself as a club legend in the process. Forming a formidable partnership widely viewed as one of the most fearsome the league has ever witnessed with fellow defender Nemanja Vidic, Ferdinand also made 81 appearances for England across a 14-year international career. Younger brother Anton eventually went on to make 164 appearances for The Hammers between 2003 and 2008, before moving on to Sunderland.

4. Andre And Jordan Ayew: 

One of the Premier League’s newest pair of brothers, Andre and Jordan Ayew both made the move to England in the summer of 2015. Older brother Ayew, 26, joined Swansea on a free transfer from French side Marseille, eventually going on to score 12 Premier League goals in his debut campaign in England. Impressing enough to earn a £20 million move to West Ham just a year later, Andre is currently out injured, after being forced to leave the pitch on his very first appearance for the Hammers. Younger brother Jordan, 24, joined Aston Villa from French side Lorient, for a fee reported to be around £8 million. Despite impressing in his debut campaign – scoring a club-highest 7 goals in the Premier League – Ayew’s goals were not enough to prevent Villa from being relegated, with the Midlands club slipping into the Championship having secured just 17 points all season.

5. Fabio And Rafael Da Silva: Identical twins Rafael and Fabio da Silva joined Manchester United in February of 2007, with big things expected of both of the young, attacking full-backs. Despite both failing to live up to their lofty expectations, it was Rafael who made the greatest impact, eventually going on to make 169 appearances for the club across all competitions in his seven seasons in Manchester before leaving in the summer of 2015 for French side Lyon. Left-back Fabio could only make 56 appearances for United, before making the move to Q.P.R on loan in 2012. After initially impressing, Fabio eventually joined Cardiff the following season, going on to make 68 appearances for the club across the following three seasons, before joining newly-promoted Middlesbrough for the new Premier League season.Photo Credit: Getty
