The immediate-past General Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, Maikanti Baru, has passed away a few weeks to his 61st birthday.
Mele Kyari, the current GMD of the corporation confirmed his death via his official Twitter handle, revealing that his boss passed on on Friday night.

“My brother, my friend and my mentor, Dr Maikanti Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night. He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him“, he tweeted.
DAILY NIGERIAN reported that a reliable family source revealed that Maikanti died around 1am on Saturday at an Abuja hospital after a brief illness.
