Ex-Governor Dariye’s Jail Term Reduced To 10-Years

 New report has confirmed that the jail term of former plateau state governor Joshua Dariye, has been reduced from 14 years to 10 years by the Court of Appeal in Abuja. If you recall back in June 2018, Dariye was sentenced to 14-years imprisonment by the Federal High Court Abuja for diverting N1.162 billion Plateau state ecological funds while he was governor between 1999 and 2007. Dariye was arraigned on a 23-count charge for the offence in 2007. Justice Stephen Adah while delivering judgement in an appeal filed by the ex-governor today November 16th, reduced the charges in the counts to 10 years, and the terms of two years reduced to one year each. The sentences are to run concurrently. It was ruled that the lower court aired in law when it sentenced Mr Dariye, a first time offender, to the maximum 14 years term contained in the charge against him.
