Carlo Ancelotti has been offered the job to manage Italy’s National team.
Italy Under-21 coach Di Biagio, has been holding the position on an interim basis following the sacking of Gian Piero Ventura. The Italian side won’t be at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia for the first time in 60 years, following their failure to defeat Sweden in the European qualification playoff games in November.
Ancelotti who was sacked by Bayern Munich last September, has managed successful clubs including AC Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Juventus in the past.
The 58-year-old reportedly held talks with Italian Football Federation commissioner Roberto Fabbricini and sub-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta in Rome on Monday night. The meeting lasted an hour-and-a-half and specific topics such as backroom staff were discussed between the two parties, according to Sky.
