Euro 2020: Ronaldo At The Brace As Portugal Dispatches Hungary 3 Nil

After a tough start to the game between, Hungary and Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo finally has the last laugh by scoring a second-half brace, a penalty, and a beautiful third goal after a sweet one-two combination with second-half substitute Rafa Silva.

Portugal were the favourite to win the match but met a resolute Hungary team, that defended with their lives. All through the first half, they kept the hugely talented Portuguese frontline largely at bay.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a one on one chance in the first half running on to a 60-yard long pass from Pepe and hitting it on a half volley but Hungary’s world-class goalie Gulacsi foiled all this attempt.

 

RonaldoDiogo Jota also in the first half tested Gulacsi and he showed he was up to the task. The Hungary side seemed like they were going to see out the draw as the game remained goalless until the 83rd minute.

But all this was set to change just a minute after the 83rd minute as Raphael Guerreiro all the way from left-back opened the scoring with a deflected shot from inside the box.

And just 2 minutes after in the 86th minutes Rafa Silva was fouled and brought down in the penalty box, which gave Ronaldo the opportunity to score his first of the game and tournament going on to surpass Michel Platini’s Euro highest goalscorer record before Ronaldo scored his double after combining beautifully for the 3rd goal with Rafa Silva with a sweet team play exchanging a one-two triangle passes that saw Ronaldo kill off the game completely by rounding Gulacsi smartly with a chop and slotting home.

Portugal goes top of its group, as the other two heavyweights in the group face-off, two of the last world cup winners France Vs Germany. It is bound to be exhilarating.
