Euro 2020 Postponed Amidst Coronavirus Pandemic

UEFA has postponed the Euro 2020 till next year’s summer, Euro 2020 now to be played 12 months from away from the original date in due to the global outspread of the deadly pandemic ‘Coronavirus’.

The decision was reached by the 55 member countries after a crisis talk was held this morning at the UEFA HQ Nyon Switzerland to postpone the Euro 2020 till next year. President of UEFA Aleksander Ceferin chaired the meeting among the governing body of the 55 associate member countries. The meeting was held in a bid to find solutions to the abrupt suspension of the league across Europe which has turn on its head.

It is understood the decision was reached by a unanimous vote to postpone the summer European Nations Cup tournament, the summer tournament was set to be held before the postponement across 12 countries in Europe with the Semi-Finals and Final to played at the Wembley Stadium in July.

UEFA has not confirmed the decision and has been left seething that one of its member associations has revealed it on social media.
The Norwegian FA took to Twitter to say: “UEFA has decided that the European Championship is postponed to 2021. It will be played from 11 June to 11 July next year. More details to come.” Euro 2020Photo Credit: Getty
