Enugu Closes Borders After Recording 1st Coronavirus Cases

After recording its first two Coronavirus case, Enugu State Government has closed his borders and markets, just after two cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the state.
The NCDC had announced the cases are 11:55pm yesterday, with 9 others in Lagos and Edo State. Announcing the border closure via a statement released by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, all land borders and inter-state transportation will be closed starting from 6pm on Tuesday, 31st March, 2020.Enugu Closes Borders After Recording 1st Coronavirus CasesThe statement revealed further that all markets in the state will be closed except food, water, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and other basic items of markets which must comply with the standard hygiene protocol as stipulated by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), including frequent hand washing with soap, use of sanitizer and social distancing.

All local government chairmen are hereby directed to ensure strict compliance with the closure of the markets within their respective local government councils, without prejudice to the exceptions above. At this difficult time as no sacrifice is too much to save the lives of our people. The state government has directed the security agencies and the State Medical Response Team to enforce all the directives as stated above “, the statement reads.
