Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Response Team LASEMA RT has enjoined Lagosians to ensure they engage in safe practices such as switching off all electrical points before the close of business to avoid and prevent fire outbreak.
The Director General of the agency Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said in a report dished out on Lagos State’s official Twitter handle, in which he addressed the recent inferno at Ajao Estate on Wednesday.Lagos Fire: Engage In Safe Practices - LASEMA Tells Lagosians
Giving an account, Oke-Osanyintolu noted that the agency had received a distress call at 1:59 am on Wednesday via the emergency helpline 767/112 regarding an outbreak at Ajao Estate Market, opposite CPM Church, and immediately deployed a team to the location.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the market was completely engulfed in flames and the Lagos State Fire Service, together with LASEMA and the Federal Fire Service worked hard to put out it out and prevent it from spreading to nearby residential buildings.Lagos Fire: Engage In Safe Practices - LASEMA Tells LagosiansRevealing the cause, Oke-Osanyintolu noted that the fire which razed four shops completely reportedly started in one of the lock-up-shops, a small shopping mall located just before the Ajao Estate Main Market. He noted that some shop owners it broke when an electrical power surge and spark occurred.
