Suspected hoodlums on Monday, October 19, allegedly breaks into the Benin Prison popularly called White House and have freed several inmates in one of the cells.
The armed squad of prison warders were forced to engage the suspected hoodlums in gunfire which resulted in some persons sustaining injuries.
The suspected was hoodlums further went on to the High Court 4 which is beside the prison where the hoodlums vandalised. The hoodlums mobilised and gathered along Sapele Road beside the Prison as early as 7 am setting up bonfires and send road users back and down another route.
They launched their pre-emptive attack when their numbers had swelled considerably enough to launch an assault and broke a part of the wall while some scaled the fence into the prison yard.
