The newly launched eNaira Wallet application has been removed from Google Play Store barely 48 hours after it was launched by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The digital currency has two applications, which are eNaira speed wallet and eNaira merchant wallet.
On Monday, the two apps were rolled out on the Google play store and the Apple Store, and barely 48hrs after it has been yanked off due to poor ratings. The App received a low 2/5 rating and terrible reviews by users who faced numerous troubles with the registration process. The app disappeared from the app store for Android users late on Wednesday, and the CBN is yet to release a statement on the issue.

President Muhammadu Buhari stated that digital currency and its underlying technology, called blockchain, can increase Nigeria’s GDP by $29 billion over the next 10 years. Buhari stated that Nigeria’s digital currency will help move people and businesses from the informal into the formal sector, thereby increasing the tax base of the country.
