Emmanuel Adebayor ‘In Talks’ For Shock Premier League Return

Emmanuel Adebayor could be set for a sensational return to the Premier League.

The 36-year-old forward last played in the English top-flight four years ago with Crystal Palace , managing just one goal in what was a largely unsuccessful stint.

But according to reports, newly-promoted West Brom have added the Togo legend to their shortlist of attacking targets.

Baggies boss Slaven Bilic is desperate to bolster his ranks this summer and is understood to have already approached Adebayor’s representatives over a possible switch.

The ex-Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham forward is a free agent after leaving Paraguayan side Olimpia in July due to issues caused by the coronavirus crisis.

And the striker, it is claimed, is keen for one last crack at the Premier League, having first arrived in England with Arsenal in 2006 before going on to play for Man City and Spurs.

Adebayor isn’t Bilic’s first-choice but if the manager fails to land a striker before the transfer window slams shut on October 5, he undoubtedly represents a good fall-back option.

The striker would be able to join after that deadline due to his free agent status, but it is believed that Bilic wants to focus on several other targets before making a decision on Adebayor.

He has also represented Real Madrid during a glittering career, while also scoring 32 goals in 87 games for Togo.

Meanwhile, Albion manager Bilic has been fined £8,000 after being shown a red card during West Brom’s 5-2 defeat at Everton on Saturday.

Bilic came on to the pitch at half-time following the dismissal of defender Kieran Gibbs and was sent off by referee Mike Dean for his protests.

“Slaven Bilic has been fined £8,000 after admitting a charge for a breach of FA Rule E3 and accepting the standard penalty,” an FA statement read.

“The West Bromwich Albion manager’s behaviour on the field of play at half-time of the Premier League fixture against Everton on 19 September 2020 amounted to improper conduct.”Photo Credit: Getty
