Emir Of Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Dies At Age 91

The Emir of Gaya in Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir has been confirmed dead, at age 91. The great man is confirmed to have passed on Wednesday morning after a brief illness. Emir Of Gaya Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir

The Emir’s passing was confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, the Social Media aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, who confirmed the monarch’s death in a post on Facebook.

“As announced by Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim, the SSA on New Media to the Governor of Kano State, our Amir, the Emir of Gaya Emirate, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Abdulkadir is dead, ‘Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un’! Bashir wrote.

“The Emir of Gaya was a great leader, he was born in 1930, 91 years ago, and had been on the throne for more than 30 years.

“May Allah (SWT) accept his good deeds, grant him Jannah Al-Firdaus, and grant his family and the entire Gaya Emirate the fortitude to bear this great loss. Ameen!” he wrote further.

Emir Alhaji Abdulkadir is one of the Emirs that was installed by Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in 2019, after he had split the Kano Emirate into 5, saying the Kano Emirate at the time was too big to be one. The five new emirates created was Gaya, Rano, Bichi and Karaye.

His death follows that of the Emir of Rano, Abubakar Illa Tafida, who died on May 2, 2020.
