The couple announced their baby news back in October, as Emily unveiled her growing baby bump on the cover of Vogue magazine, and by sharing a naked snap on Instagram.

Emily – who shot to fame as a topless model in Robin Thicke’s controversial 2013 music video for Blurred Lines – was snapped caressing her growing bump in an orange satin dress as she posed for the digital cover of Vogue magazine.

Underneath her name on the cover, it read: “Why I don’t want to reveal the gender of my child”.

Explaining the tag line on her digital cover, Emily said that she will let her child decide on its gender.

She told the mag: “When my husband and I tell friends that I’m pregnant, their first question after ‘Congratulations’ is almost always ‘Do you know what you want?’

“We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then. Everyone laughs at this. There is a truth to our line, though, one that hints at possibilities that are much more complex than whatever genitalia our child might be born with: the truth that we ultimately have no idea who—rather than what—is growing inside my belly.”

She added: “Who will this person be? What kind of person will we become parents to? How will they change our lives and who we are? This is a wondrous and terrifying concept, one that renders us both helpless and humbled.”

Emily says she doesn’t want to force gender stereotypes on her child.

The model hasn’t been shy about showing off her bump throughout her pregnancy, frequently posing naked to display her bulging belly. She recently hinted her modelling career will take a back seat once she becomes a mother.

Emily suggested she fell pregnant as a consequence of lockdown. The star – who has modelled for brands including The Kooples and Paco Rabanne – said her usually chaotic life of jetting around the world for work came to an abrupt pause due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

She said: “I envisaged myself having kids much older, but lockdown was part of the reason this happened. Fashion is so demanding – it has to be your first priority and you have to be available for that big-money job, which makes it difficult to plan your life. I’ve disappointed loved ones many times by bailing on something. I wasn’t used to being at home because I was getting on flights, which is a really cool life, but having a forced time of no work and no fear of missing out . . .”

Emily went on to suggest she will be taking a step back from the catwalks, billboards and magazine covers as she adjusts to a new life as a mother. She said: “That doesn’t mean I’m giving up work, but it’s not going to be the only thing.”
