Ekiti people panic as election day nears.
This morning, the governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose said the entrance to the state’s Government House was blocked by gun wielding mobile police, before revealing hours later that there’s “heavy shooting by APC” in the vicinity. This is happening less than 24hours after President Muhammadu Buhari, Bola Tinubu and several other APC chieftains stormed Ekiti for APC’s mega rally to gather people to vote for their candidate, Kayode Fayemi.
“This is the entrance to Ekiti Govt House now blocked by gun-wielding mobile police,” Fayose tweeted with a picture. “The plan is to prevent our victory for today but we will remain undeterred. Power of God and the people will prevail over Federal Power.” Few minutes after the first tweet, Fayose returned to the social app to disclose that there’s “heavy shooting now going on in front of Ekiti Govt house by APC.”
Viral photos now making rounds on the internet shows governor Fayose on the ground after being reportedly teargassed. A PDP rally scheduled to take place at the new pavilion located at Fajuyi in Ado Ekiti, close to the Government House, was reportedly scattered as policemen allegedly teargassed the participants. The Ekiti 2018 governorship election will hold on July 14.
