Eight Terrorists Killed As Troops Repels Boko Haram Attack On Military Cantonment In Niger State

Troops have repelled Boko Haram attack on 221 Batallion Wawa Cantonment in New Bussa, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, killing eight terrorists.

According to multiple reports, the Nigeria Air Force and the Army joined forces to repel the terrorists from gaining access to the military barracks on Saturday night, October 29, 2022. The terrorists were said to have planned their attack in two groups as they tried to use force to gain access to the gate of the military barracks.

Unconfirmed sources said that the Chief Commander who led the attack was apprehended by the army. A security alert sent to residents of New Bussa, advised them to remain indoors until further notice while the counter attack lasted.

The alert titled: “SECURITY ALERT!!! Situation Report—Wawa Military Cantonment. Time 0100hours, identified the attackers as Boko Haram terror group. “According to sources in the Wawa Military Cantonment, the attempted attackers were Jihadists rebel group of the Boko Haram Sect,” the alert read.

“Sources said the insurgent group were in two groups, wanting to use force and other violent ways to gain access to the Military Barracks Cage, but with the brilliance of the Army and Air Force after a tough battle, repelled their attacks attempt (sic).

“The NAF Base New Bussa torcano jets were deployed instantly and it yielded results in a total repel of the insurgent group.

“The general public are strictly advised to adhere to warnings of remaining indoors till further notice and must take note and report new faces and insignificant movements around Bussa—Wawa axis. Be security conscious.”
