The Edo State Government on Thursday, announced a shift in the resumption date of schools in the state for the third term of the 2022/2023 session from April 24 to 25.
Dr Oni Ekhosuehi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Benin, said that the new date is due to the Eid el-Fitr holiday.

Ekhosuehi stated that teaching and learning would commence immediately from the first day of resumption.
“This date supersedes the one stated in the 2022/2023 harmonised school calendar.
“Please note that teaching and learning commence immediately from the first day of resumption. Hence, parents and guardians should release their wards on the stipulated date to resume school.
“Any parent/guardian whose ward (pupil/student) is found loitering, hawking or engaged in child labour during school hours will be arrested and prosecuted.

“To this end, school heads should ensure that classrooms and school environments are clean, safe and ready for commencement of academic activities,” he said.
