The 20th National Sports Festival set to be hosted by Edo State has been postponed again making it the 4th time it has been postponed in the last 12-months, and now it has been shifted from January to February 14-28, 2021.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Gabriel Aduda said the postponement was approved by the National Council on Sports (NCS) under the leadership of the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare.
Recall that the National Sports Festival had previously been postponed from December 3 – 18, to January 3 – 17, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making the new dates the fourth time the fiesta would be postponed.
The Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare had said the postponement was because of the need to ensure better precautionary measures were taken against COVID-19, bearing in mind the expected influx of holidaymakers during the festive period.
