The apex court in the country has thrown out PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha‘s application filed against the Court’s previous decision of January 14, 2020, that removed him as Governor of Imo State and pronouncing APC’s Hope Uzodinma as the new governor-elect of Imo State.
The ruling sparked protests in Imo and Abuja, with the PDP’s members taking to the street to protest Ihedioha’s removal and challenged the verdict, Ihedioha along with his team insisted that the supreme court erred by handing victory to Uzodinma.
However, on March 3, 2020, six judges on the seven-man panel of supreme court Justices led by Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Muhammad, dismissed Emeka Ihedioha’s application. Only Justice Centus Nweze disagreed with the judgment. In its final ruling on the subject, the supreme court said it lacked the jurisdiction to review its own judgment and that Ihedioha’s application for a reversal lacked merit.
