A leading surgeon who killed his lover by secretly sprinkling cocaine on his penis before oral sex has been jailed for nine years. Dr Andreas David Niederbichler was compared to ‘Fifty Shades’ character Christian Grey after details of his sex life were revealed at a trial in Magdeburg, Germany.
The 42-year-old was found guilty of rape and GBH leading to death after he spiked several women’s champagne with drugs to make them more sexually compliant. Court spokesman Christian Loeffler said: “The accused was sentenced to nine years imprisonment for multiple severe rape in three cases, and GBH resulting in death. In addition, the district court ordered the placement in preventive custody, which means that the defendant remains in preventive detention after serving his sentence until he is no longer of any danger.” During the trial, the doctor said through his lawyers that he did not intend to kill the woman and voluntarily wants to tackle his cocaine addiction. Niederbichler caused the death of 38-year-old hairdresser Yvonne M. by secretly putting cocaine on his penis before she performed oral sex on him. She became short of breath afterwards and collapsed. A later autopsy revealed she had died from a cocaine overdose. According to Yvonne’s friends, she had had a long-running affair with the surgeon and trusted him completely. One friend said: “Yvonne wanted to leave her husband for Dr Niederbichler. He was like Christian Grey from Fifty Shades of Grey to her.”
The court said Dr Niederbichler put cocaine on his foreskin before having vaginal, anal and oral sex with three other women between September 2015 and February 2018. Prosecutors say he also secretly put the drug into glasses of champagne before giving it to his lovers. Chief prosecutor Eva Vogel said the surgeon wanted to make the women more compliant to his sexual requests. She said: “He administered the cocaine to freely carry on further sex practices.” According to local media, several victims reported being light-headed after seeing the suspect and one of his sex partners twice crashed her car after unknowingly taking cocaine during sex sessions.
