Despite High Court Ruling, I’m Still Surrounded – Bobi Wine

Uganda Decides: Bobi Wine and Yoweri Museveni
It appears Nigeria is not the only nation where the supremacy of the law is not respected. Ugandan Bobi Wine’s continued arrest has proved this, despite petitions and court rulings.
Recall that 38 year old singer and actor cum politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine has been placed under house arrest in his home by Ugandan army, as ordered by President Yoweri Museveni a day before the 2021 elections, alongside his wife and an 18-month-old baby.
Since then, Bobi has been giving updates via his Twitter handle, of how they have been short on food supplies and couldn’t even pick things in their compound. A High court, however, ruled that Bobi’s arrest is illegal and should be ended. A human rights group in the African nation, People’s Human Rights Forum (PHRF), however, promised an inspection to see if the court order is being followed or not.

Giving an update today, the home confined politician revealed that the order has not been followed. “The High Court ruled this morning that my continued house arrest (11 days now) is illegal & unconstitutional. Several hours later, the military still surrounds my home, blocking access to all! Perhaps (as always) waiting for Gen. Museveni’s orders on the next course of action“, he wrote.
