Deadly Heat Wave Kills 17 People In Canada

A scorching heat wave has killed not less than 17 people in in Quebec, eastern Canada in the past week as summer temperature reached an all-time high at the expense of the residents.

Health officials confirmed on Wednesday that 12 of the late victims were reported in the eastern province’s capital Montreal.
Five of the deaths also reportedly occurred in the past 48 hours in the Eastern Townships, a rural area just east of the city.

In a condolence message to the relatives of the bereaved, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said: “My thoughts are with the loved ones of those who have died in Quebec during this heat wave.”
He also warned citizens of a prolonged presence of the weather disaster by saying; : “The record temperatures are expected to continue in central and eastern Canada, so make sure you know how to protect yourself and your family.’
