In part 2 of the “Black Box Interview” series, Davido highlights his sonic journey so far, he talked about his ten years journey, and how he got into music and why he can never go down no matter how hard his enemies try to pull down.
He shared unheard stories about his friendship with Wizkid, Burna Boy and the story behind his Tekno-produced hit, “If” which he claims brought him back to the limelight after going more than a year without dropping a hit.
He shared how he was a drug baron for all Nigeria artistes that came to Atlanta since his teenage years. Davido said he was hurt for not being put on the Beyonce “Lion King” album, and why Nigerian artistes need to stop seeking international validation.
He spoke about finding love, building a family, making friends – and a few ‘enemies’ too – and breaking records while he’s been at it. For nearly a decade, it’s been a round-the-clock full-time job of being an international superstar, and Davido’s been covering all the shifts.
