Reports have that a couple of senior aides of the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, have resigned from their appointments with his government and have immediately joined the opposition party in the state, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the reports Mr Amaechi Oken, the Senior Techincal Assistant to Governor and Apostle Benjamin Obaji, a Technical Assistant, both resigned their appointment this month (March 2021).

The pair’s resignation letters dated March 1 and March 8, 2021, respectively, they note that their reason for quitting was for lack of payment of their salaries by the governor for months as such that’s why they decided to leave their jobs.
It is also gathered that after their resignation the duo moved crossed-carpet and joined the opposition party of PDP from the ruling APC. This latest raft of Gov David Umahi’s aides who have jumped ship bringing the total number of aides who resigned their appointments from his government since he joined the APC last November to nine.
While Mr Oken’s resignation letter read in part, “My worry is that while others were paid for January this year, I was not paid. The following month, February too, I have not received any allowances/stipends;

Obaji’s letter partly read, “Sir, let it be noted that my resignation was not politically inclined, but purely on personal grounds, not minding the fact that I have not been paid for the past few months.”
