With the new COVID-19 transport mandate from the government that expects high-capacity bus to carry not more than 20 passengers, Primero Transport Services Ltd., operators of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Lagos State says it is facing an economic downturn and a hard time.
The Managing Director of the firm, Mr Fola Tinubu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Wednesday.
“It is not possible for us to break-even with 20 passengers. We are just running social services; it is not possible at all.
“We know it will be a tough time for the firm but it’s for everybody’s safety.”
Speaking, he said that each BRT bus has a 70 passenger capacity, and that although the new transport rule is affecting business, the company will follow it to the latter.
