The lawsuit against the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki on the grounds of his certificate been forged has been struck out by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Obaseki was dragged to court by one Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin, Amedu Dauda Anakhu who accused him of forging his Bachelor Of Arts (B.A) certificate in Classical Studies from the prestigious University of Ibadan.
The plaintiffs had argued that the incumbent governor Godwin Obaseki was not qualified to run or seek the votes of the electorate to remain in office as the Edo State Governor for another 4 years tenure at the 2020 governorship election where they insisted that certificate forgery contravenes section I82(1)(i) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
However, the case was heard in court today on Monday, June 29, the plaintiffs and their lawyers were reportedly absent, Justice Anwuli Chiekere then proceeded to strike out the suit.
This is coming after the management of University of Ibadan (UI) confirmed that Godwin Obaseki graduated from the institution in 1979.
