A Federal High Court seated in Abuja as rejected an application made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission {EFCC} to arrest the outspoken PDP chieftain and former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode on Wednesday, December 2. Femi Fani-Kayode

The arrest application was submitted after the EFCC’s prosecuting counsel, Mr Mohammed Abubakar had asked for an arrest warrant for the ex-minister over him refusing to appear in court on Wednesday for his trial which involved his alleged diversion of N26m which he received from former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, in 2014. Femi fani-kayode

FFK’s counsel, Mr Wale Balogun, however, opposed the application citing health issues as his reason for not appearing in court for his trial. He tendered a medical report dated November 24, 2020 in which the former minister was advised to observe some bed rest. EFCC arrests Femi Fani-Kayode

Ruling on the application, Justice John Tsoho, who is also the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court rejected on grounds of Femi Fani-Kayode’s lawyer showing that he had justifiable grounds to be absent from the trial on Wednesday.

The case was then adjourned till February 23 and 24.
