A Chief Magistrate Court in Kwara State has refused the bail application filed by Adegbola Abdulazeez, an Isese (traditional religion) practitioner and activist, also known as Tani Olohun.

KOKO TV NG gathered that the court which sat in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, made this known in a ruling on Tuesday morning.

According to the court, the refusal of the bail application was premised on the fact that there was a high tendency that the applicant, Tani Olohun would jump bail if granted and that a substantial part of the application submitted by his counsel was plagiarised.

KOKO TV NG had reported how the police in Kwara State, North Central Nigeria, confirmed that the warrant used to arrest Adegbola Abdulazeez was fake.

The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, had said the command had no idea which court issued the warrant to arrest Tani Olohun.

Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore in August, also exposed that the Nigerian police arrested Tani Olohun with a fake warrant.

According to the candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 presidential election, the police also asked the state government to allow them to prosecute Tani Olohun without the involvement of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

“#FreeTaniOlorun: The charade by special interests in Ilorin to secretly jail Tani Olohun exposed, first they got a fake arrest warrant from Area Court to get him arrested, now asking state govt to let them prosecute him without involving the DPP’s office,” Sowore had posted on his Facebook page.

Talolorun was on August 17 arraigned before a magistrate court in Ilorin and was further remanded till October 5.

But when asked which court issued the said warrant, Ajayi said he had no idea.

KOKO TV NG also reported that prison authorities in Kwara State denied family members and activists access to Tani Olohun, who was remanded by a magistrate court in Ilorin.
