400m Theft: Maj. Gen Hakeem Otiki Dismissed With “Disgrace And Dishonour” From Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army today Court-martial Major-General Hakeem Otiki dismissing him from service “with disgrace and dishonour” after being found guilty of theft worth N400m.Hakeem Otiki

Maj.Gen Hakeem Otiki had been standing trial since 2019 after he sent some soldiers to transport some cash to Kaduna by road from where it was meant to be moved to Abuja, the cash was stolen during the stop at Kaduna and subsequently, the soldiers deserted the army.

Otiki was court-martial and found guilty on 5-count against him, and was also ordered to return all the various sums of money including $6,600 that was found with him back to the Nigerian Army.

His sentence which is subject to approval by the army council also includes a reduction of his rank to brigadier general with two years seniority on count three and severe reprimand on count four.
