Corruption Trial: Court Grants Former SGF Babachir Lawal N50m Bail

The former Secretary to the Federation, Babachir Lawal has been granted bail by a federal high court in Abuja. His bail was fixed for the total sum of N50 million naira. This came after the former SGF pleaded not-guilty to the 10-count corruption misappropriation charges levied against him by the EFCC yesterday, February 12th. Babachir who was sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari over the misappropriation case in 2017 was ordered to be remanded in EFCC custody till his bail application is determined. This, the court said this morning after which it was added that Babachir and the other two who were arrested and granted the same bail must show evidence of tax payment for the past three years. The court also added that they must be residents within the jurisdiction of the court. Their international passport was also asked of them after which the case was adjourned till the 18th of March. Photo Credit: Getty
