The federal high court in Abuja has granted a request by the Department of State Services (DSS) to remand Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), till July 26.
The court granted the order on Tuesday morning when Kanu was re-arraigned on charges bothering on alleged treason. Binta Nyako, the presiding judge, said he is to be remanded in DSS custody pending the determination of his trial. Kanu appeared in court without his lawyer or any member of his defense team.

The leader of the IPOB movement was arrested in the UK and flown to Nigeria on Sunday. According to NAN, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami is set to make the announcement on Tuesday in Abuja. Kanu fled Nigeria in 2017 while on bail facing charges of a treasonable felony in court.
