Coronavirus Lockdown: Lagos Authenticate SMS Food Stimulus For Aged

The Lagos State Government has confirmed the authenticity of the Short Message Service (SMS) that has been sent to the residents of the State who are 60 and above as part of the stimulus food package in the state meant to be adopted in the use of food distribution during the lockdown of the state for the next 14-days.Food Stimulus In Lagos In Coronavirus Lockdown

Mr Gbolohan Lawal State the Commissioner for Agriculture, made the clarification in a statement in the state on Monday. Mr Lawal said that the SMS messages from the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) were sent to the Aged in the state. He further explained the message asked them to reply with a “YES”, “FOOD YES” or “SWITCH YES” if their registered home address with the agency was still valid.

Mr Gbolohan Lawal also further shed more light on the initiatives for the coronavirus Lockdown which was announced by the state government on the 27th March 2020, which intends to bring the raw food items to be distributed at Local Governments in the state. He also noted the importance of each resident registering with LASRRA in order to continue to asses social benefits like this in the nearest future. It was further pressed that once the beneficiaries receive the SMS they should reply quickly to the SMS saying that the window for registration will last till mid-day of March 31 2020.

He also reiterated that as soon as all responses are collated, beneficiaries would start receiving their stimulus emergency food package from the state government. Photo Credit: Getty
